This Wednesday, MyVoice junior researchers Xochitl Amaro and Jayde Frederick will join MyVoice director Tammy Chang on an open Zoom webinar with the CDC. The title of the event is Behavioral Strategies to Encourage Protective COVID-19 Behaviors Among College and University Students, and they’ll be joined by experts from the CDC Vaccine Task Force, the CDC Community Interventions & Critical Populations Task Force, the American College Health Association, and our poll crush, the Harris Poll.
Xochitl is a current student at the University of Michigan and participates as a junior researcher on the MyVoice team as part of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). Jayde is a current student at Oakwood University and a MICHR summer intern with the MyVoice program. You may recognize the two young scholars from their previous MyVoice research presentation to the National Academy of Medicine subcommittee earlier last year.

Also, FYI, if you are a college student interested in working on research, UROP is a national model for introducing undergraduate students to research and may be available at a college or university in your area.
The webinar will be held on Zoom this Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 1 to 2:30PM EST. According to the event description, the CDC webinar is “intended to bring together representatives from a broad cross-section of colleges and universities to learn more about how behavioral strategies have been leveraged to promote positive health behaviors related to COVID-19. A CDC representative who specializes in vaccines will provide updates on the COVID-19 vaccine. Representatives from the American College Health Association, University of Michigan, University of California Irvine, Oakwood University, and The Harris Poll will share how they have used behavioral strategies to encourage protective COVID-19 behaviors as part of their institution’s COVID-19 response.”
