Message from the Director
People often ask: How did the pandemic effect MyVoice? Given the tenor of media these days, It would be easy to assume that things have fallen apart in the face of very real challenges like a global pandemic, inequalities, war, and poverty. But, the truth is that our community of emerging researchers have taken the many challenges they face to energize their efforts to use data to help others. They found ways to connect with each other to continue our important work to amplify the voices of young people across the country through the MyVoice survey.
This year, we are especially proud of our researchers – many of whom are in high school and university – for their push to disseminate MyVoice survey results to wider audiences. MyVoice-supported research was published in a wide range of top ranked academic journals including JAMA Network Open, the Annals of Family Medicine, and the Journal of Adolescent Health. These efforts ensure that policy makers, public agencies, and community advocacy groups have the information that they need to ensure that forthcoming policy responses and services are rooted in the cares and concerns of the young people whose lives they seek to improve.
As we look to the year to come, we continue to draw inspiration from the MyVoice community. Your opinions, enthusiasm, and leadership are a gift which keeps giving. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work to ensure that your opinions are heard on the issues that matter most to you.
Tammy Chang, MD, MPH, MS
